The Jazz – A real connection of us

The Budapest-based Symbiosis 5 plays instrumental jazz. The members of the quintet met within the walls of the Liszt Ferenc University of Music and the Béla Bartók Conservatory, and all of them are active members of the Hungarian jazz scene. Since the band was formed in 2020, they won the first places of the “Getxo Jazz” and Sibiu Jazz” competitions, and both of the main prizes of the 2023 edition of “MÜPA Jazz Showcase”. Their music is heavily influenced by modal jazz, but due to the young age and diverse interests of the quintet members, they also employ many other stylistic elements.

Our first album

Symbiosis 5 (2022)

The first Symbiosis 5 single was published in 2022 with three songs written by Roland Majsai, Levente Kapolcsi-Szabó and Máté Drippey. Its musical base is given by the peculiarity of the real instrumental jazz and intends to give a kind of summary of the past two years ’ musical attitude and evolution of the band.

Our second album

Symbiosis 5 – Getxo(2022)

We took part in the 2022 Getxo Jazz international competition in Spain, where we won the first prize. During the competition we had the pleasure of opening before Ron Carter, Melissa Aldana and Gonzalo Rubalcaba. This album is a selection of our songs played live in Getxo.
